Auditions

Theatre by the Bay (TBTB), in partnership with the Trillium Foundation, the City of Barrie, and the RBC Emerging Artist Program, is holding auditions for two productions as part of The Simcoe County Virtual Theatre Initiative to be filmed at the Five Points Theatre in July 2021, and broadcast at a selected date.

NOTE: Due to current restrictions, only actors from within the Simcoe County bubble will be cast. Auditions will take place virtually.

TBTB is a professional regional theatre organization focused on the development and production of new plays about Barrie and the Simcoe County region (land covered by Treaties 16, 18 and Williams).

Tech / Performance Dates: July 25th-31st. Performances will be filmed to be broadcast at a selected date.
Payment: Honorarium.

  • George: late 40s-50s, caucasian male. Lead. Has a slight German accent. A widowed man whose previous female companions have received suspicious, untimely deaths. He is eerily charming.

Two Girls, One Corpse

Written by Marissa Caldwell and Michelle Blanchard; Directed by Keara Voo.

A goofy comedy-mystery about two girls who go to the wedding of an ex-boyfriend, drink until they blackout, and wake up in their apartment with a dead body. What happened? Who killed him? Stick with these two (wannabe) super-sleuths to find out!

Characters:
*Note: the ages listed below are for the characters and should be considered as a reference.
  • Kenzie: 20s, female-identifying, any ethnicity. Lead. Kenzie is Kasey's best friend of 6+ years, and she is also the groom's ex-girlfriend; the same groom who winds up dead in their apartment. Kenzie is fun, energetic, imaginative and a little bit dramatic. She is in town visiting Kasey for the wedding, as she recently moved to the big city to pursue her dreams; and, like most people her age, she worries that her life isn't progressing in the ways that she expected. An actor who can sell the audience on their impressions (even if they're bad) is a bonus.
  • Kasey: 25, female-identifying, any ethnicity. Lead. Kasey is Kenzie's best friend and is responsible for getting them the invitation to this wedding, as well as the owner of the apartment they're both staying in. She is grounded, sarcastic, fairly easygoing and also a little bit dramatic. She misses the way things used to be before they graduated school and Kenzie left and they both had to step into the real world. An actor who can sell the audience on their impressions (even if they're bad) is a bonus.

Audition Times:
  • Tues. June 2nd, 2pm-6pm
  • Wed. June 3rd, 2pm-6pm
