Written by local playwright Trudee Romanek, Bobbie follows the story of Fanny "Bobbie" Rosenfeld, a true Canadian sports icon. The play follows her family's journey as they fled from the violence and turmoil of Russia to the safety of Barrie, where she developed the passion for sport. She would then go on to become an Olympic Champion, representing Canada at the Olympic Games in 1928.
Bobbie Rosenfeld Day: August 30, 2023
Barrie City Council has proclaimed that August 30, 2023 will be Bobbie Rosenfeld Day. This Day is a celebration of Bobbie's incredible contributions and impact to the Canadian sports industry, and a recognition of a local Barrie champion.
Bobbie Rosenfeld Day will coincide with the first public performance of Bobbie on August 30th. Stay tuned for more details on how we'll be commemorating this historic day!
