Aspiring Playwrights (and Actors) Unite!

Are you a budding playwright living in Barrie? From 6 to 10 PM, TBTB runs a once-a-month get-together for playwrights seeking to have new scenes and plays read out loud. No piece is too small, rough, or new! Just send your script to us at barrieplaywrights@gmail.com!

Even if you’re not a playwright- mark this date in your calendar! This event is open to the Barrie theatre community to come together, talk about new work and network with each other.

Actors are especially welcome as we will need lots of readers! For actors, reading new scenes and plays is an incredible way to practice your craft. Often in auditions, you are asked to pick up sides “cold” and quickly analyze them. Being able to read a scene you haven’t had much time to rehearse is a very important part of getting work as an actor.

Readings will begin at 6 PM!

The Barrie Theatre Lab is also a great opportunity to pitch shows or projects you’re working on to others… Not to mention an opportunity to meet new people and reconnect with old friends.

The event is currently held downtown at The Creative Space, 12 Dunlop St. E. In February 2019, it will be moved to the Barrie Public Library’s Angus Ross Room in the Central Branch.

Admission is free. Snacks and coffee will be provided.

The next Barrie Theatre Labs will take place on the following dates:

January 7th, 2019

February 4th, 2019

March 4th, 2019

April 1st, 2019

May 6th, 2019

etc.

All interested applicants please contact barrieplaywrights@gmail.com with your submissions.
